Did You Know A Cactus Blooms?

The cactus is actually a very interesting plant. We would know nothing about them if a couple from our church didn't own a cactus farm. Once a year, these amazing plants bloom for just a day or two. The flowers on them are like no other flowers-- they are the most beautiful, full and fragrant. I think the flowers are even more special because you get to see them so rarely. Our friend, Bill (the owner/cactus expert), was telling me today that he has one cactus he has owned for 17 years and he saw its flowers for the first time this year-- it only blooms for 4 hours!

Dave and I have taken the "Cactus Tour" in the past. Today as Ella and I were running errands, we had to drive past this farm and noticed from the road that the blooms were out right now. We swung in for a quick visit. While Ella did not find the cactus flowers quite as fascinating as I do, she loved seeing all the lizards and feeding the koi fish in the big pond!
