Stuck!

I write this post with wireless access from the Staybridge Suites where we are stranded in the high deserts of LA. We were planning on being in San Diego today, but a "historical" snowstorm hit Southern California and here we are. We knew there was going to be a little weather, so we opted to take the desert route, which is less mountainous...in retrospect that was not a good decision. Of course, this sucks, but we are blessed and had many prayers answered. We drove for 6 hours and went nowhere, yet no one had a major meltdown (though I was close). We couldn't see anything nor drive above 15 mph, yet our car stayed on the road. And the town we finally found gave us the last room of the last hotel (someone was literally calling to cancel their reservation when Dave walked in). We thank God for safety and shelter, but what the heck? WE MOVED TO CALIFORNIA TO GET AWAY FROM THIS TYPE OF THING!!!

A little bit of midwest weather in California--that's crazy! (Really weird to see the palm tree in that snowy pic!) Hope it melts quickly, so you can be on your way soon and get on with the rest of your vacation! Did you build a snowman??

Jen, this is crazy. I can't believe it. Yesterday was crazy busy and I didn't even know about the storm, but I was thinking of you. This will be a story to tell...someday! I hope you make some fun memories in the midst of the frustration!

Love,
Jonathan's mom

PS-Jonathan LOVES his marble game, and we do, too!!!

Who knew that Delia would actually get to see real snow in CA this year... and not just that fake stuff at the Bass Pro Shop?!

The snow on the palm tree is completely surreal! Hope you can make some good fun with it and enjoy this little bit of Midwest Christmas! :-) love you guys! Stay safe. I'm so glad that God's hand has already been evident there. love, karen

Wow! How crazy! I didn't know they got snow in S CA. And even if it's only a little bit, they definitely don't know how to deal with it or drive in it out there, so I'm sure it's just total madness! Hope you guys stay safe and are able to make it homw okay.

Oh, Jen! We read your post with mouths' agape. I guess I was living under a rock and didn't realize there was a storm down south. (Maybe we won't get our company from So. Cal for Christmas???) Lloyd wanted me to add that there is a beautiful sunset in Ripon tonight -- and no snow in sight -- but I won't tell you that since it is adding insult to injury:-)
