Now the Sad Post
Unfortunately, while we were at the zoo, Delia had a minor accident. She broke her collar bone when she fell off the back of our Sit-n-Stand stroller. She was holding onto a cooler that slipped and she went down with it, landing squarely on her shoulder. We instantly knew something was really wrong when she was inconsolable and wouldn't let us touch her. She's normally totally resilient-- laughing off even the biggest falls. We decided to head home right away. Though it was Delia with the broken bone, Ella was the one who cried for most of the drive home. Nope, not because she was sad for her sister, because she did not want to leave the zoo! We called her doctor and were told to head to the hospital. The 5 hour wait in the ER was killer-- especially when Dave and Delia had to turn around and go right back at 9:30 pm. Delia traded her incorrectly-given sling for a clavicle strap and all is okay now. She slept straight through the night and is showing decent mobility today and doing just a bit of whining. Dave kept using the world "brave" over and over to describe how she handled this entire process. Delia will rest, wear the strap constantly (wish us luck with that!) and be as good as new in a couple weeks. Of course, we feel terrible for our sore little honey, but really this was inevitable. Delia got those, um, active genes from her father. I suspect this is a girl who will have lots of "scar stories!"

Poor Delia! Or maybe, poor Mom and Dad, because I know it's hard to see your kiddo hurting!

Oh, Jen! I'm so sorry! I can't believe that we don't have an ER story with Drew. . . yet, it seems inevitable to me. We will be praying for a quick and complete recovery -- and we'll be more aware with our identical stroller:)
David was just like this as a little boy! He also was always brave in the ER. I never saw him cry or shy away from the doctors as they sewed him up when he got his stitches. Mom and I are praying for Jen and Delia that the time of healing will go well and quick. Dad
