Snow Day!
This week we've been hit with some crazy storms. Continuous rain for us means heavy snow in the mountains, so today we went hunting for it. Dave took a rare day off, so we packed up the snow boots and snow pants and got in the car with no other plans than to just drive until we hit snow. It didn't take long-- just about an hour and at just about 3000 feet elevation. Our first stop was for lunch, which we ate outside... at a picnic table... with no coats on. Ten minutes later we were driving through a winter wonderland-- sudden snow and tons of it. The roads were lined with high walls of plowed snow. The pine trees were decorated with piles on each branch. The knee-deep snow was white and undisturbed. It was so beautiful, but the only thing plowed was 2 lanes of the main road. Not finding anywhere to even park our car to get out, we had to turn around and head back down about 1000 feet to find more practical snow to play in. Discovering a spot to park the car we also found a park to play in. We're sure our snowbound Midwest family and friends must think we're crazy for spending a precious day off in pursuit of snow and to then whoop it up with so much joy as we ran around throwing snow balls and making snow men when we found some!
Snow angel: Delia LOVED the snow and was all smiles all day.
Swingin' in the snow. How could we know that the swings in this random park would be the best part of the day? This was Delia's first time in a swing (the giant marshmallow snow suit packed her into it pretty safely!)
Ella, Snowman and Daddy. (Don't be confused by the "fuzzy on the snowman's chin"-- Daddy's the one on the right.)

How fun! I love that you can visit the snow - and then leave it on the mountain! We got 10 inches of snow on Thursday night, going into Friday morning! Kyle was trying to come home for the weekend, but never made it. Dad blew the driveway as much as he could Thurs night, and our neighbor had blown out the drive and sidewalk before we came home on Friday. What a nice surprise. Kris' neighbor was also watching out for her, and blew the snow from her driveway. The snow does look beautiful when it is all white and new - and you don't have to drive in it!
Love you, MOM
Ok, what fun! I love your descriptions of the Winter Wonderland and the pics of the girls are priceless. And you highlight my favorite part of living in Central California - the chance to drive to the snow in a few hours & then come home!
Blessings,
Auntie D
